Meet Nic

After 15 long years in sales, Nic was feeling stressed and stuck. His mental health was deteriorating and he knew he needed to make a change – quickly. So he made a bold move – he ditched his old life, grabbed his pup, and hit the open road. With every mile he traveled, Nic found new reasons to smile. He savored succulent BBQ and drank in the breathtaking scenery, but to keep his adventure going, he needed a job that fit his new lifestyle – and that’s where Virtual Gurus came in.

The Search

The day-to-day grind was wearing on Nic, and took its toll on his mental health. After a crisis, he knew he needed to pursue a different path. So he sold his house and hit the open road, hoping hed find a gig that would let him apply his hard-earned skills along the way.

Nic knew he wanted a career that would allow him the flexibility to work and travel, so he carefully researched his options. While platforms like Upwork and Fiverr had some appeal, the lack of community and support left him feeling unfulfilled. That’s when Nic discovered Virtual Gurus, an innovative platform that checked all his boxes. They offered services that perfectly aligned with his experience, a strong support network and an expansive talent pool.

Certain skill sets are more niche than others and can bring you clients faster but it’s a big community with lots of opportunities for everyone.

The Experience

Soon after joining Virtual Gurus, Nic’s skills were in high demand. He quickly found clients and a newfound passion for supporting non-profit organizations. “Certain skill sets are more niche than others and can bring you clients faster,” says Nic. “But it’s a big community with lots of opportunities for everyone.”

By working with a variety of clients, Nic has enjoyed learning and growing continously along the way. “My VA superpower is my ability to quickly adapt and learn on the fly,“ he says.

Nic’s adaptability has helped him build strong relationships with his clients and provide excellent service to everyone he works with. He takes pride in his work and is dedicated to helping his clients succeed. With Virtual Gurus, he found a career that allows him to explore the world while also earning a living and feeling a sense of satisfaction from providing value to others.

The Impact

Nic has learned a lot since he started working as a virtual assistant with Virtual Gurus. Working with clients from various industries, including the non-profit sector, has exposed him to a wide range of unique processes and selling techniques.

One significant benefit Nic appreciates in working with Virtual Gurus clients is that they’ve given Nic the space to learn and grow his skill sets to meet their needs, which has been essential for his mental health. Not feeling the pressure to be perfect right from the start has allowed Nic to feel more comfortable in his role and has given him the opportunity to improve his abilities over time.

Through these experiences, Nic has built strong relationships and made numerous connections. The Client Success Managers of Virtual Gurus provided a safe place for support and guidance, which helped Nic feel comfortable and ready for his first client. Further support was provided through the VA Community Hub where Nic found new friends he could connect, learn, and laugh alongside.

Although busy with clients since completing his onboarding, he remains active in the Hub, providing value to those around him. Nic is proud to have been able to make a difference and is excited to see what other opportunities lie ahead.
